8 the Salon

I had the best experience with everyone I came in contact with at Salon 8. In the past, I have had a few really bad experiences with hair and have developed a great deal of anxiety around the process of finding a new stylist and getting my hair cut and colored. I knew I needed someone calming and patient who would listen to me and not just rush me through. The staff recommended Michael to me and he was phenomenal from start to finish. He went above and beyond listening, asking the right questions, getting a feel for my hair and offering suggestions based on my coloring, face shape and general style. His advice was excellent and his cut and style were perfectly on point. He gave me pushback when I asked for things that wouldn't work for my hair type - exactly what I was looking for. He also gave me excellent tips for how to style my hair with the new cut. Truly full-service. It is obvious they aim to stand out in the industry, and they have accomplished it. I have been to very high end salons in Switzerland, Paris, London and New York. This is the best service I have ever received. Each one of the ladies working at the front were super kind and went out of their way to accommodate my schedule. I would expect a salon like 8 to have high caliber stylists that can accomplish whatever look one wants, but to be treated with such kindness and deference was exceptional in an industry that often seems to value snootiness (often with no substance). Michael is a wonderful person and a damn good stylist - this place is a gem in this industry - so grateful to have them here in Charlotte!
