H & S Cleaners

Today was my last visit to H&S Cleaners. My wife and I have been using their services for several years, but apparently that means nothing to the owner. My only complaint ever was today about a pair of wool Brooks Brother pants, less than two years old, taken exclusively to their shop. There were several holes in one of the pants leg - one of them all the way through both sides and you could look clear through it. H&S's claim? Mold damage. He said my closet must be full of mold and bacteria. Right. And apparently it showed up overnight and just ate these pants. I know that you, reading this review, don't know anything about me, but I'm the sort of guy who hangs his permanently creased dress slacks with the legs up clamped by cedar planks. I would have seen holes in my pants leg before most people due to this arrangement. Nevertheless, I would have bought the mold theory except the hole clean through the leg. The International Fabricare Institute, the dry-cleaner trade group who determines fair value, etc. for damaged clothing, lists wool slacks as having 4 years of life. Apparently my Brooks Brothers slacks only got 2, and they molded in my clean and dry walk in closet. I'm done with giving these folks loyal business. Due to the way they handled the issue and the fact that they didn't even offer a refund on the service, I recommend you take your business elsewhere... although my online research says you're pretty much out of luck when a cleaner makes a mistake, so caveat emptor.
