Geitner is my favorite place to walk my pups in Hickory. There are plenty of trails to get away from the crowds and some rocks along the waterline to let the pups cool off. There are lots of mountain bikers along the way, so keep your head on a swivel. One of the things that really detract from the park is the litter. It comes in all forms: Styrofoam cups, cigarette butts, fishing supplies, and wrappers are found in abundance along the unpaved trails, while plenty of unclaimed dog poop lines the main paved trail. It is truly a shame some people don't pick up their litter, but otherwise is a fantastic park to spend the day.
