Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Charlotte I-485 at Highway 74E, NC

Selected the Country Inn & Suites using Expedia for its reasonable rate ($82) and convenient location, 485 and 74 in Matthews, NC. Access to the hotel property is via two side roads, it's not immediately accessible from the main road. The staff seemed great, and was happy to accommodate me with my room when I arrived for early check-in at noon, a huge help with the backlog of work I wanted to knock out. Traffic at the time of my stay was horrible, due to major construction on Highway 74 at the hotel and for several miles east (no fault of the hotel). The hotel lobby and halls were very dark, and appeared to be very dated. Although clean, the rooms seemed dark/dreary. The wallpaper around the shower was peeling. The room and bathroom were clean, and the bed nicely made. There was plenty of parking for my overnight stay on a Monday, but construction trailers parked in the back killed a lot of spaces. It doesn't offer much for scenery, but its convenient location to Charlotte means you're not too far from lots of things to do offsite. I'll probably look for something a little more contemporary my next overnight stay in Charlotte. I give them 3 out of 5 stars for being clean, reasonably priced, and conveniently located (I'm sure it will be easier to access them once all of the Highway 74 road construction is completed in a few years).
