I booked a rental car for two months of TDY. When I arrived my reservation had only been set for one month. I requested to either extend my reservation or have another one ready when the first one ended. The person at the desk said I would have to come in at the end of the first reservation to get another. After one week of driving the rental car I had to return it as the rear drivers side tire continued to lose air. I spoke to a different representative and explained the situation. She upgraded me and set another reservation for the duration of my trip. She requested that I call in at the end of my first reservation. I called and was told I had to return the car I had and get a different car. When I came in to exchange the cars, about an hour or so earlier than I had anticipated, I was treated like a criminal. The lady at the counter (the same lady from when I arrived) was very hostile. She asked a coworker what was available. He sated there were two cars. The one that was ready was a Jetta, There was a Hundai that was being worked on. I was in a bit of a hurry, but she made me wait for the Hundai. In fact she said "Oh, he gets the Hundai" as if to punish me. I drove the Hundai with no issues. I returned the car and got the bill. I was in a bit of a rush and did not review the dates. I reviewed the total and when I got my card statement it did not match. As this is Government travel, I need to submit a voucher to reimburse my card. I checked the dates on the statement and it seems I was only given the statement for the last portion of the trip. I have now been trying for five days to get someone at this office to assist me. The first time I called I was put on hold for 20 minutes, when I called back, no one answered. There is no voice mail or answering machine. Other times I have called there is either no answer or, they tell me they don't have time to assist me and will call me back, but never do. This place is horrible. Do NOT get a rental car from them.
l rent vehicles fairly often and and my latest experience with Budget was disappointing. I made this reservation a month prior, for a 2 week rental period from 25 Aug thru 8 Sep. Upon showing up to pick up my rental i was greeted by Kevin. Kevin was friendly and acknowledged my rental reservation, but explained that he didn't have many vehicles left, and he seemed to be unsure of how to proceed. He said that he only had 2 vehicles remaining among the Budget/Avis vehicle pool: an old Chevy Impala or a newer Toyota Rav4. He also said that i "definately should not take the old Impala". I said I'd take whatever he recommended, which was the Rav4. As soon as i inspected the Toyota Rav4, i noticed that its 'check engine' light was on and also that the vehicle registration expired in 7 days (end of Aug), halfway thru my rental period. I relayed these 2 concerns to Kevin who said "there's nothing he can do, that i just have to take the Toyota." Anyhow, while my experience doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in Budget, i also realize that things don't always go as planned or smoothly. However, i just got back from an Afghanistan deployment on 23 Aug and wasn't looking forward to working in an additional trip to a Budget location to swap out vehicles during my 2 weeks of leave. I'd recommend this location keep a few more vehicles in their fleet as a buffer to ensure they have enough vehicles to cover their existing reservations.
